HSV Hamburg loses its pivot Andreas Magaard. After the season, the Dane will move back to his hometown club GOG Gudme.

The handball Bundesliga team HSV Hamburg and pivot Andreas Magaard are parting ways after this season. The 27-year-old Dane uses an exit clause in his contract and returns to his homeland to Champions League participants GOG Gudme. His original contract in Hamburg ran until June 30, 2027.

HSVH sports director Johannes Bitter explained: “After Andreas informed us of his wishes, we immediately started discussions with potential successors and will be able to present a new addition for the position in a timely manner.”

Magaard came to Hamburg from Nordsjaelland HB in 2022. Under coach Torsten Jansen, he developed into an important pillar in the team’s attack and defense.

On Sunday (4:30 p.m. / Dyn) HSVH meets in the Bundesliga at home in the Hamburg sports hall on the HC Erlangen.
