Sports park De Vork is now temporarily used by football club SV Vrone. Next year the football players will return to their renovated complex, which will free up space at the sports park for the BMX riders.
The advantage of this location in Heerhugowaard is that there are already dressing room facilities and that the complex is owned by the municipality. The land also has a sports destination, infrastructure and a large part of the OBE’s feasibility study can be reused.
According to current plans, the club must leave its current location in Zuid-Scharwoude before the end of 2026. The alternative now is Sportpark De Vork. There is a need for haste for the BMX riders.
“An exploratory round is now underway. That process will take three months, but we would prefer to have clarity before the turn of the year. The time frame for constructing a track is becoming increasingly shorter. It is not just there,” says Bak.
Outdoor Bike Experience also coming to Sportpark De Vork?
During last week’s municipal meeting, the political parties DOP and ChristenUnie presented a motion to see whether the OBE could also be located at the current Sports Park De Vork. The motion has been dealt with.
Councilor John Does then promised in the municipal council to achieve results with the Kley drivers as quickly as possible. He will also discuss with the OBE to see what is spatially and financially possible.
