The president of Inter at Sport Industry Talk between the national team and the derby: “We all have a duty to support the Azzurri”. And again: “Pio Esposito is an example to emulate”
The break for the national teams is behind us, the focus is on a special derby. Giuseppe Marotta spoke this morning at “Sport Industry Talk”, the event organized by RCS Academy in collaboration with Corriere della Sera. On the sidelines of the speech in which he was the protagonist together with Paolo Scaroni, president of Milan, Marotta spoke about the national team and Sunday evening’s match.

“While waiting for the playoffs, we all have a duty to support Italy to achieve a World Cup objective – is the comment of the Inter president -. We want it for our families and for our children. Then the time will come for self-criticism, but also criticism. Don’t just think of the Federation, but of the qualification system: there are already national teams in the World Cup that are above 50th place in the ranking. We need to review the role recognized for European football”.

The positive note of the international break also makes Marotta smile: Pio Esposito, after an excellent start to the season with Inter, scored two goals in the last two matches with the Azzurri. “We are proud because Pio comes from our youth sector and this must be a concept for our little ones to emulate – explained the Inter president -. The boys must understand that they can reach very high levels and represent not only Inter but also the whole country”.

The match against Milan on Sunday, however, will be the first for the two Milanese clubs as co-owners of San Siro. “We and Milan? Always friends, antagonists in those 90 minutes. We hope to be able to create a show that is an advert for the entire football movement – continues Marotta -. For the first time we will play the derby as owners of the stadium: this has an epochal significance”. Finally, a joke about Allegri, chosen by Marotta as the new coach when the two worked at Juventus: “Max in two words? Concreteness and cynicism”.
