On Tuesday, a Saudi Arabian delegation visited US President Donald Trump in Washington. Cristiano Ronaldo was also there. Now the White House is showing the first pictures.
One day after soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo visited US President Donald Trump, the White House published the first pictures of the meeting. In a video that the government distributed on Platform X, Trump and Ronaldo can be seen walking down the presidential gallery in the Rose Garden of the White House. All portraits of the former US presidents are lined up there – with the exception of the picture of Trump predecessor Joe Biden, which Trump had removed.
Trump and Ronaldo seem to get along great. In the published video you can see the footballer laughing hard at a statement made by the US President. The account writes “Two GOATS” about the video, the acronym stands for “Greatest of All Time” in German: Greatest of all time.
During his visit, Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t just meet Donald Trump himself. His son Barron also met the Portuguese star – to the 19-year-old’s delight.
According to the AP news agency, Trump said his son was a “big fan” of the 40-year-old offensive player from Al-Nassr. “Barron was allowed to meet him. And I think he respects his father a little more now, just because I introduced you to him,” said Trump in the direction of Ronaldo.
The five-time world footballer wants to play in a World Cup again next year. The tournament will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
Ronaldo was part of the delegation led by Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that met US President Washington in Washington. The Portuguese international has been under contract with Saudi club Al-Nassr for almost three years.
Saudi Arabia has repeatedly appointed Ronaldo as an ambassador in recent years – including in connection with the awarding of the 2034 World Cup to the desert state. The decision in favor of the host country was criticized due to the human rights situation. Ronaldo was nevertheless convinced in December of the previous year: “After what I have seen, I am even more convinced that 2034 will be the best World Cup of all time.”
On Instagram, Ronaldo thanked Trump and First Lady Melania for the welcome. He wrote: “Each of us has something valuable to contribute, and I stand ready to do my part to inspire new generations to shape a future marked by courage, responsibility and lasting peace.”
