In recent days, Karim Adeyemi has come into focus – but away from sport. There is a criminal warrant against him. How does BVB react?

Now the punishment for Karim Adeyemi has apparently been determined: As “Bild” reports, the national player is said to have been in conversation with those responsible at BVB on Wednesday. The “Kicker” also writes that. According to “Bild”, Adeyemi will now visit the Nordstadtliga in the future and complete training sessions there with the children.

The “Kicker” also reports that managing director Lars Ricken and sports director Sebastian Kehl are said to have spoken to Adeyemi. According to Kicker, Ricken said the conversation was “detailed and explicit about his behavior.”

In a statement available to “Kicker”, Ricken is also quoted as saying: “Of course we took the matter very seriously. He deeply regrets his mistake.” The player assured that he didn’t want to do anything like that anymore. Therefore, Ricken said: “We trust him to stick to it.”

Adeyemi himself also commented on Instagram. He wrote in his story: “It’s not easy for me to talk about it: At the beginning of 2024, out of carelessness and without really thinking about what I was doing, I ordered a so-called ‘mystery box’ on the Internet. It also contained items that are not permitted under weapons law.”

As the newspaper had previously reported, the offensive player is said to have received a penalty notice for illegal possession of weapons a few weeks ago. WDR confirmed the information and the problems with the judiciary. The Hagen public prosecutor confirmed to both media outlets that a criminal order had been issued against Adeyemi on charges of possessing prohibited items under the Weapons Act.

DFB sports director Rudi Völler said after the win on Monday evening on ZDF that they were “critical” of Adeyemi, but emphasized: “But of course we don’t want to condemn him either. Young players make mistakes, in this case it was a stupid mistake.”
