Actress and musician Elsi Sloan, 25, is accused of crimes in the Helsinki district court.
Sloan is charged with assaulting a police officer and obstructing an officer. The crimes took place on June 9 in Helsinki.
On the same day, Elokapina organized extensive demonstrations in Helsinki. The police arrested more than 130 August rebels. Elokapina had announced that they would organize a march from Senatintor to the Parliament building, but unexpectedly the protesters blocked the intersections of Mannerheimintie and Helsinginkatu and Teollisuuskatu and Vääksyntie from traffic.
Elsi Sloan, contacted by Iltalehti, thinks that the charges are related to her activities in Elokapina.

– Civil disobedience means that they become sanctions, which are then carried out, commented Elsi Sloan on her charges.
Sloan is not yet sure if he will attend the hearing. If he makes it to the hearing, he says he intends to appeal for a state of emergency.
– Everything we love is in danger of being destroyed. The climate crisis is the existentially most serious threat of our time. I want my children to have a sustainable society that has not collapsed as a result of the problems brought about by the climate crisis when they grow up.
Sloan also refers to Article 20 of the Constitution, according to which responsibility for nature and its diversity, environment and cultural heritage belongs to everyone.
– I think it is my responsibility to do what I can, and one of those ways is to sit on the street with others and thereby create political pressure. If you have better ideas, give me a hint and start implementing it yourself. But time is running out.
According to Sloan, humanity is going to be in “really shitty shit” within a few years.
– I wouldn’t be terribly interested in such a thing.
Well-known activist
Sloan is indicted along with six other defendants. Among them is, for example, a woman known as a long-term conservationist and a person who worked as a primary school class teacher.
