The meeting occurred last Friday and neither of them wanted there to be photos. Neither the host, Victoria Villarruel, nor the visitor, Patricia Bullrich, who went to see the other in her Senate office. The minister was running as the winner of the elections in CABA and the future head of the bloc of libertarian senators. The vice president received her in her institutional role as head of the Lower House. It was a confrontation between an enemy of Milei and one of the main swords of the Government, and that is why the dialogue was deaf: while Bullrich asked him for alignment, Villarruel replied that he had never hindered the Government’s plans in anything. And although the two reported that the meeting had been “positive”, the truth is that they despise each other and do not hide it.
For example, in the gifts they chose for that occasion. Bullrich brought a national Constitution as a gift, perhaps because the libertarians punished Villarruel with epithets as harsh as “coup plotter” and launched the crazy theory that he would have been behind the currency runs prior to the rescue of the United States (they did not explain what mysterious relationship there is between the vice and the City agents). In turn, the hostess also dedicated a Greek present to her visitor: a bottle of wine, perhaps to pair that gift with the infinite number of memes and jokes that spread about Bullrich’s supposed penchant for drinking, an unfounded rumor that went viral after, years ago, his car was hijacked for failing a breathalyzer test.
The bad vibe between “Vicky” and “Pato” has an origin that few remember. Before the minister arrived in space and painted herself as Violet, it was to Villarruel that Milei was going to cede full control of the ministries of Security and Defense, the two problems that interested her. But that agreement was canceled without prior notice when Bullrich landed in the Government and left Villarruel with nothing. The subsequent constant arguments between the President and his vice ended up completely isolating her. And now she feels that they sent Bullrich to come after her.
Two iron ladies, face to face, in a fight to rent balconies.
