Virtus wins the seventh match out of 8 in the championship. At the Palaverde in Treviso it ends 79-101. An extraordinary Alston was decisive, finishing with 25 points (9/10 from the field). Vildoza was also excellent, author of many valuable plays (10 points, 5 steals and four assists). What makes the difference are the percentages of 2 (14/40 for Treviso, 28/37 for Bologna). Ivanovic’s men remain in the lead with Brescia, Nutribullet, with only one victory in 8 matches, is in the relegation zone.

SO VILDOZA

Virtus starts their evening at the Palaverde well, showing that Alston is already in the game (5 points in a row at the start). Olidata has the merit of moving the ball well and running in transition (2-9 at 3′). Treviso, however, reacts immediately thanks to the energy of the returning Weber, who scores two triples in a row and Olisevicius (11 equal in the 4th minute). The match remains balanced in the following minutes, Ivanovic’s men see Edwards turn on and exploit the internal combinations of the big men, Diarra and Akele, to hurt Rossi’s team. Nutribullet stings by capturing offensive rebounds and scoring with Torresani, on the line, and Pinkins near the rim (19-23 in the 8th minute). In the second quarter, Bologna tries to steer for the first time in the match. After a triple from Pajola, the guests find themselves at +7 (25-32 at 11′). In the following moments, Vildoza takes center stage (8 points), working perfectly on the passing lines, stealing 5 balls and capitalizing on the counterattack (45-51 at 20′), despite Abdur-Rahkman and Pinkins trying to keep Nutribullet in their wake.

DEFENSE AND CONTROL

In the first minutes of the second half the pace drops, but Bologna still tries to escape, making the home team pay dearly for 2 turnovers by Pinkins and scoring with Edwards, Alston and especially Jallow (from 3, 47-58 in the 22nd minute). After a triple by Torresani, which gives Rossi’s men -8 (52-60 at 26′), the V-Blacks begin to close the area better (denying their opponents field goals for almost 10′), then they run on the counterattack and continue with effective ball circulation. Bologna’s offensive flow leads to Pajola’s triple (54-65 in the 28th minute). Olidata’s advantage increases further, after the 2/2 free throws by the aforementioned blue point guard (54-69 at 30′). Nutribullet’s difficulties in attack are highlighted by just 9 points scored in the third period. At the beginning of the last quarter the defenses get the better of the attacks, but Virtus continues to perform well in the offensive phase and remains in control (57-76 at 34′) after a 2/2 with the clock stopped and a great assist for Alston’s triple, by the usual Vildoza. A couple of baskets from Diarra put Bologna up 21 in the 37th minute (64-85). The end of the match only serves Ivanovic’s boys to round off the result. Fifth victory in a row for the V-Blacks.
