Alba Berlin has secured the last ticket for the top four for the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) cup. In the last quarter-final duel on Monday evening, the home team won against Science City Jena with 91:78 (45:51) and thus advanced to the semi-finals for the third year in a row. The EWE Baskets Oldenburg had previously won 72:69 (30:39) at Rasta Vechta thanks to a three-pointer from Christopher Clemons one second before the end.

In the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, the guests initially dominated in only their second cup quarter-final in the club’s history. The BBL promoted team went into the break with a six-point lead before the home team went into a frenzy in the second half and turned the game around. Berlin’s Martin Hermannsson and Jack Kayil were the best scorers of the encounter with 18 points each.

In the Lower Saxony derby, BBL top scorer Clemons ensured a happy ending from Oldenburg’s perspective. Shortly before the final siren, the American, the best scorer of the game with 20 points, crowned his strong performance. At halftime, the league’s penultimate team was still nine points behind.

The draw for the pairings of the Top Four tournament (February 21/22, 2026) will take place on Monday in the capital. In addition to Alba and Oldenburg, Bayern Munich and the BMA365 Bamberg Baskets have been confirmed as participants
