One day after a ten-goal spectacle in the cup, women’s Bundesliga team TSG Hoffenheim is parting ways with its coach. For now there is an interim solution.
After just a few months, Theodoros Dedes and TSG Hoffenheim parted ways. The Bundesliga club from Kraichgau has separated from the coach of its women’s team. According to the club, the contract, which originally ran until 2026, was terminated by “mutual agreement”.
In recent months it has become clear that “the club and coach have different views on some fundamental questions about the direction and approach to girls’ and women’s football,” said the TSG.
Dedes took over the position for the 2024/25 season. “We realized together that the hoped-for development in this first half of the season did not materialize as desired in all areas,” explained Ralf Zwanziger, head of the women’s football department. “It’s not just about sporting results, but about the overall orientation and cooperation.”
In terms of sport, TSG lost 4-6 to Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup round of 16 on Sunday. Hoffenheim is currently in sixth place in the Bundesliga.
The previous assistant coach Thomas Johrden will take over the team on an interim basis. Zwanziger said: “We are already in discussions about the final successor to Theodoros Dedes and are confident that we will be able to present a solution by the start of winter preparations at the latest.”
