Argument Jan and Monique Smit divides Volendam: ‘I am for Jan’
The Smit family is once again rolling through the streets, now that one riot after another is coming out. Last weekend it was announced that Jan Smit’s record label had taken several of sister Monique’s songs offline from the music platform Spotify. This caused quite a commotion, because a number of songs are about Sinterklaas. And that was just the weekend that the saint arrived in the Netherlands. It is not the first riot among the Smit family from Volendam. Reporter Hein Keijser traveled to the fishing village to find out which camp the Volendam residents are in. That of Jan or Monique Smit.
