Femke Kok improved the world record for the 500 meters at the World Cup competitions in Salt Lake City. The reigning world champion at this distance achieved 36.09, which was well faster than the old record of 36.36 set by Lee Sang-hwa from South Korea from 2013. Jenning de Boo drove the second fastest time ever.
