American drummer of the iconic band Sparks Hilly Boy Michaels is dead, says Mirror. His cause of death has not been made public.

Sparks is a pop-rock band founded in 1968, known for its singer Russell Maelin of high falsetto as well as his brother’s keyboard player Ron Maelin of eccentric compositions and sarcastic lyrics.

The brothers have indeed remembered Michaels.

– We are saddened to hear that Hilly Boy Michaels has passed away. He was the drummer for Sparks Big Beat –at the time of the album (1976), but remained involved throughout the years. Our thoughts are with his friends and family, they told the newspaper.

The band’s great popularity dates back to the early 1970s, when it also visited Finland. Hilly Boys Michaels played in the band during that time. He has also performed with other well-known names such as by Michael Bolton, by Dan Hartman, by Marianne Faithfull and by Ronnie Wood with.

Michaels had a relationship with Faithfull in the mid-1980s, and they even lived together in New York.
