Arrests in Emmen after discovery of large batch of illegal fireworks and weapons

Two men aged 25 and 27 from Emmen were arrested after the discovery of a large amount of illegal fireworks, weapons and cannabis. The items were discovered in a warehouse in Emmen after an anonymous tip.

Agents found more than 2,500 explosive cartridges, more than twenty mortar bombs and approximately one kilo of cannabis buds. A suspected stolen scooter and an amount of money were also seized.

After the arrests, the police searched the suspects’ homes. More than one and a half kilos of illegal fireworks were again found there, as well as additional mortar bombs, a taser, a knife and a baton.

The mortar bombs found are described by the police as life-threatening. According to the police, storage in residential areas can pose major risks to local residents due to the risk of serious explosions and fire.
