In retrospect, Waylon is happy that he was selected as a coach at The Voice of Holland, because he says he doesn’t feel like crazy manners and mandatory courses.
The last, discarded season of The Voice of Holland had only one new coach, Glennis Grace. She became controversial, just like Ali B. The other two coaches were Anouk and Waylon. The latter two were open to a return to the program, but have been passed over. The only veteran will soon be Ilse DeLange.
No course
Waylon initially grumbled about that, but the singer is now relieved that he will no longer be present. “I am a bit skeptical about how cozy or fun the atmosphere can be behind the scenes. I hear stories about protocols. All those new rules have created an atmosphere of distrust,” he says. The Telegraph.
He continues: “I am also critical of the mandatory courses, such as the code for ‘respectful cooperation with each other’. I do not need such a course. I have been doing this from an early age and have rolled every cable there is in my career.”
Crazy
Coaches can no longer give their telephone number to candidates; communication can only take place via a special app, where other people can also watch. “It has swung to the other side.”
He concludes: “I find it annoying to be given a transmitter and that there are always two people there, one of whom has to keep an eye on the transmitter. And then it is very difficult to ask if you can touch someone… Nothing ever happened within my team. It was transparent.”
