The treasury’s income and expenditure has been recorded monthly since last week www.rijksfinancien.nl. This concerns a monthly update of expenditure per budget and what comes in. This increases insight into the expenditure and income achieved during the year.
The monthly publication of the (available) expenditure and income realizations follows from the report of the ‘Expert Group Realistic Estimates’. Earlier this year they made 10 recommendations to improve insight into the state of public finances. One of those recommendations was to inform MPs and citizens more frequently and better about budget achievements on both the expenditure and income sides. The income overview also includes the most current estimate per tax type, both on a monthly and annual basis.
This publication is a first step. The government will continue to expand and improve the presentation of realization figures on Rijksfinancien.nl. This has recently happened with data and visualizations of tax regulations and the ‘blue book’ (an overview of the Dutch economy and government finances in graphs and tables, which is published annually with the Budget Memorandum).
