“They are in good hands,” emphasizes a spokesperson who has little further information about the two Bengalis. “Because it is a police investigation.”
The two Bengals – mother cat and kitten – were found on October 27 in Marijnenlaan in Uithoorn. The mother cat was chipped, but not registered. Partly for this reason, the police believe that the animals have been dumped, and the public has been asked to contribute their thoughts.
In one call on Facebook people ask who knows where the Bengal cats belong. That has not yielded anything yet, says a police spokesperson. He emphasizes that the investigation has not yet been completed. “We have received a number of tips, and they are now being checked.”
In quarantine
In the Hoofddorp shelter, the animals first stay in quarantine for a while, to prevent them from infecting other shelter animals with diseases that they may have. They also undergo extensive medical checks and receive the necessary treatments and vaccinations.
The shelter has named the Bengals Luna and Priyanka. “We do that with all animals,” says a spokesperson about the practice of naming new shelter animals. “Also because it’s easier. To avoid having to call them ‘cat 1′ and cat 2’.”
Not only the police, but also the animal shelter is looking for the owners of the mother cat and her kitten. Text continues.
