The fire broke out just before 3 p.m. at the Kruitmagazijn on the Esplanade in Ypres. The fire started in the toilet for people with disabilities. The damage there is extensive, says fire captain Dirk Vandekerckhove.
It is not the first time that a fire has been set in the sanitary block. And vandals were already at work. The toilets are not so close to the public road, so people with less good intentions can start a fire or destroy something without being noticed. The police from the Arro Ypres zone arrived on the scene to make observations.
