(toskanews) – Disney has revealed The Disney Christmas Short: The Best Christmas Everthe new short film directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi which invites the public to discover a new, exciting original story, available today online and on Disney+.
At the center of the story are a little girl and her drawing, which comes to life on Christmas Day after Santa Claus mistakes it for her holiday wish. In unmistakable Disney style, the short film follows the tender story of friendship between the little girl and the animated result of her imagination during the magical holiday period, and ends with an invitation to everyone: «Give a magical Christmas to those you love».
The Disney Christmas Short: The Best Christmas Ever again sees the direction of Taika Waititi, after last year’s Emmy-nominated short The Child and the Octopus Friendwhose many collaborations with Disney include Marvel Studios films Thor: Ragnarok (2017) e Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), as well as the Searchlight Pictures film Jojo Rabbit (2019), winner of the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
«What makes this short an authentic Disney story is the fact that it is set in a little girl’s world. It tells of a little girl and her new best friend, who They face a complex world together relying only on the power of friendship and imagination», declared Taika Waititi.
The famous animator of Walt Disney Animation Studios Eric Goldberg – creator of some beloved Disney characters such as the Genie Aladdin (1992) – held the role of consultant for the animation of the short film in collaboration with Untold Studios, the production house hungryman and the creative agency adam&eveDDB.
