The Offenbacher Kickers are currently only running behind their own expectations. Now an old acquaintance from the Bundesliga is supposed to help make things better.
Kickers Offenbach has hired a new sports director. From November 21st, Martin Pieckenhagen will take over the position at the regional league team. The club announced this on Tuesday. The 53-year-old succeeds Christian Hock, from whom the Hessians had previously separated.
Pieckenhagen said about his new job: “I’m really looking forward to my job at the Kickers and am grateful for the trust the club has placed in me. The OFC is a traditional club with passionate fans and great potential that needs to finally be awakened.”
During his active time, the former goalkeeper was in goal for MSV Duisburg, Hansa Rostock, Hamburger SV and FSV Mainz 05, among others. He also played in the Dutch Eredivisie for Heracles Almelo for five years – making a total of 167 appearances there. From January 2019 to April 2023, Pieckenhagen worked as sports director in Rostock.
The new managing director should give new impetus to the OFC. After 16 match days, the club is only in 13th place in the Regionalliga Südwest. Club president Joachim Wagner explained: “His expertise and network are very valuable to us and we are convinced that he will significantly advance our sporting development.”
