Johnny de Mol causes annoyance to his direct colleague Johan Derksen with the way he presents his program The Tribute: Battle of the Bands. “Why are you wearing a T-shirt like that?”

The Tribute: Battle of the Bands started its fifth season last weekend. The program, in which tribute singers are given a large stage, is also liked by Johan Derksen. He does think that the presenter of the whole thing, Johnny de Mol, could do a little better in the field of styling.

Oldest T-shirt

Johnny is doing well, Johan thinks. “Look, Johnny is completely ruined as a talk show host. That’s just not his thing and he shouldn’t do that. Johnny has to make programs with children with disabilities. He does that fantastically. And he can do this very well,” he says in the podcast. Greetings from Grolloo.

He continues: “I just don’t understand that when Johnny presents a program, he puts on his oldest T-shirt and rolls up his sleeves so that the tattoos become visible. He can also just put on a jacket.”

High level

Furthermore, it is top entertainment, according to Johan. “Johnny is doing great and the program shows that those tribute bands are so damn good. The Netherlands is bursting with talent. I was really amazed at the high level of people who are happy when they perform at weddings or parties.”

He concludes: “Luckily there were 900,000 viewers, so there is a large target group for it. We have to keep these kinds of programs on TV. There are also nice people on the jury who give useful instructions and are friendly critical. Especially Spike, he is a bit of a crazy guitarist, but he is a very nice boy.”
