Former UFC fighter Godofredo Pepey has died in a Florida prison. The man had a sheet around his neck when he was found. Investigators suspect suicide.
The 38-year-old free athlete was arrested in June. He was accused of domestic violence, where the victim was Pepey’s wife Samara Mello.
According to court documents, the brass player was also accused of kidnapping, tampering with a witness and assault. Pepey was awaiting trial in prison.
Mello’s lawyer published a press release after the sad news.
– The death of a prisoner is a serious matter. Certain procedures must be followed by US authorities, and all information is published by those authorities. Before that, I ask respect for him [Pepeyn] towards his family and wife Samara.
Pepey fought in the UFC 11 times between 2012 and 2018. Five of the matches ended with Brass winning. Came to Turpa six times.
