As a replacement for Assan Ouedraogo, Mika Baur has joined the German U21 national team squad.

As the German Football Association announced, the 21-year-old midfielder from second division club SC Paderborn was expected to join the team on Monday evening as they prepared for the European Championship qualifiers on Friday against Malta in Fürth and four days later in Georgia.

Ouédraogo from RB Leipzig was nominated by Julian Nagelsmann for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The national coach was reacting to the loss of Mainz’s Nadiem Amiri, who did not travel to the meeting point in Wolfsburg due to adductor problems.

The DFB team will play against Slovakia in Luxembourg on Friday and three days later in Leipzig.
