Jenni Pirinen, 35, is also known as Meikkijenni on social media. He often compares market cosmetics. “It’s really satisfying to find an affordable but functional product,” says Jenni. In this story, he reveals his own inexpensive favorites.
It’s a great feeling when you can find a product on the market shelves for a dime or less, which is equivalent to a hit product that costs many times more.
Jenni Pirinen35, is passionate about cosmetics and confesses to being a make-up connoisseur. However, this does not mean that he uses only expensive branded products. Jenni estimates that about half of the cosmetics she uses are supermarket cosmetics.
Jenni makes beauty content for social media under the name Meikkijenni.
Jenni’s treasure hunt on supermarket cosmetics shelves started some time ago.
– I worked for 15 years in the low-paying early childhood education sector, so I’m used to observing prices. However, I don’t use anything just because the product is cheap, it also has to be good. It’s really satisfying to find an affordable but functional product.
In addition to affordability, convenience appeals to market cosmetics, Jenni believes. For example, if there is a party in the evening and you notice strange lumps in the old make-up cream, the supermarket is often easier to reach than a shop specializing in cosmetics.
Dupes of favorites
Jenni hunts for affordable and high-quality cosmetics in supermarkets, but she has mixed feelings about outright dupe products.
– I think it’s miserable if the packaging is exactly the same. It’s just copying and I think it could use more imagination.
Dupe refers to an inexpensive product that corresponds to a more expensive branded product. The term comes from the word Duplicate. Information about dupe products that work often spreads on social media, where Jennik has also found finds she likes.
For example, Makeup Revolution Jelly Blush sold in Prisma is equivalent to Milk Makeup’s jelly-like jelly blushes. The market version costs less than a tenner and the branded product costs thirty, Jenni says.
– Catrice’s Bright & Blur Setting Powder is very similar to Huda Beauty’s powder with a cult reputation. Catrice also has very good glow products that match Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter. If I put one on one side and one on the other side of my face, no one would be able to tell which side has what.
Jenni says that she especially likes the Catrice products sold at Tokmanni.
– It is well branded and designed for all ages. I haven’t noticed a big drop in quality in the products.
Below, Jenni lists all her favorite products from market cosmetics. All of them cost less than 20 euros, and the cheapest ones can be had for a penny or even less.
Foundations:

Catrice’s Soft Glam Filter Stick (approx. €6)
– If I want a really light and fluffy base, Catrice’s stick is my favorite for that, Jenni says
Maybelline New York’s Superstay Lumi Matte Foundation (approx. €16.90)
Maybelline New York Superstay 24H Skin Tint (approx. €17.90)
Concealers:

IsaDora’s The Contour Stick (approx. €16)
MUA Make Up Academy’s Beauty Balm (€5.55)

Powder:
Catrice’s Bright & Blur Setting Powder (approx. €6.50) is very similar to Huda Beauty’s powder with a cult reputation. Jenni Pirinen
Mascara:
Bbian Never Die Mascara (€14.90)
– This is a waterproof Korean fiber mascara that doesn’t smudge. This holds curls all day and won’t fall or spread. I’ve even worn this in the lake, Jenni says
Jenni has a habit of recommending another product in connection with this mascara. He has noticed that an effective cleaning product is needed to remove it. Nivea’s Double Effect Eye Make-Up Remover (approx. €5) is an affordable option, Jenni advises.
Angles:
– I’ve used these brow pencils three times already, Jenni says about Maybelline’s Build-A-Brow Pen (approx. €17). Jenni Pirinen
Lips:

Catrice’s Gloss Obsessed Lip Glaze (approx. €3.50)
Maybelline New York Lifter Liner (€8.50)
– I have high standards for lip liners. I usually use slightly more expensive brands, but this lasts really well, Jenni says.
There is no saving in this
Eyeshadow palettes can be a risky purchase on the market cosmetics side, Jenni says she has found. According to his experiences, the variation can be brisk even within the same palette.
– It is difficult to find uniform quality. Some of the shades may work like a dream and, for example, matte shades may be creamy, soft and fading. But then there are also a couple of shades that are really wolves.
There have always been impulse purchases with make-up and concealers as well, Jenni says. It hasn’t always been about the product being really bad.
– We all have such different skins. That’s why it’s also difficult to give advice on make-up creams. I can mostly only describe what kind of skin I think a product is suitable for.
However, Jenni also has tricks for if the foundation doesn’t fit as well as you might have hoped.
– It can be saved in many different ways. It is perfectly permissible to mix liquid products together.
Foundation that is too light can be tinted darker by adding a drop of liquid bronzer. Using the same principle, the tone of a cream that is too dark can be changed with the help of a lighter concealer.
– And if the cream is far too thick and matte and seems to remain on all the dryness of the skin, you can mix hearing drops with it. For example, the Essence brand has ones that cost four euros.
However, Jenni doesn’t want to skimp on one beauty product. She wouldn’t buy herself the cheapest possible eyelash curler.
– It is one that I invest in and advise others to invest in as well. Mine is Shiseido, it cost almost 30 euros.
