At the meeting held under the title of “FIFA Professional Players Consultative Forum” in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, FIFA General Secretary Mattias Grafström and other FIFA officials held meetings with player unions around the world.
At the forum, which focuses on football player welfare and general working conditions, it was stated that a fund will be established for professional players by allocating an investment of 20 million dollars for the 2026-2029 period.
The aim of the FIFA Professional Players Fund is “to provide financial support to players who are unable to collect their outstanding salaries due to the financial difficulties experienced by their clubs, and the relevant arrangements to be made will be determined by FIFA in due course, in consultation with the players’ unions.” It was explained as follows.
It was also emphasized that the rules of “At least 72 hours of rest between matches”, “At least 21 days of rest between seasons” and “One day of compulsory rest per week”, which were among the decisions taken in cooperation with the unions in July, were supported.
