The Arro Ypres police zone determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and that he did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance policy. The car was seized. No one was injured in the accident, but the material damage was significant.
Mayor Sandy Evrard emphasizes the seriousness of the incident: “Four vehicles were seriously damaged, including a brand new car belonging to one of the local residents. Fortunately, no one was injured, but this clearly shows how dangerous such behavior is.” He adds that the Ypres and Mesenstraat are often the cause of traffic nuisance and problems. According to him, a revision of these regional roads should be examined.
