Dynamo Dresden has to cope with the next setback in the relegation battle. Thomas Stamm’s team lost 1:2 (1:1) against 1.FC Nürnberg on Friday and suffered their seventh defeat of the season on matchday 12.

The Saxons showed a lot of effort, but too few playful qualities to be able to stand up to the Franconians. “What you already notice is that we might not have the ease”said Dresden coach Thomas Stamm in the Sportschau interview after the game.

Coach Miroslav Klose’s team, on the other hand, showed their skills at least at times, which was enough to leave the pitch as winners. With its second win in a row, the “Club” worked its way up from the lower regions of the table into secure midfield.

The goals for FCN were scored by Rafael Lubach (1st) and Tim Janisch (51st). Dominik Kother scored for Dresden (45th + 1).

Fastest goal of the season in the 2nd league

What a start for the guests from Nuremberg: After the kick-off, Artem Stepanov got the ball and then moved into the Dresden penalty area on the right side. The attacker passed the ball across, where Lubach coldly converted the ball from eleven meters. It took a full 14 seconds for the Klose team to celebrate the goal. The fastest goal in this second division season. A shock for everyone who supported Dresden.

“The coaches told us that we had to be ready from the start. Because Dresden had a force right from the start,” said goalscorer Lubach about his opening goal in the sports show.

However, the regular team quickly recovered and initially took control of the game. However, real scoring opportunities should not arise. The Nuremberg players appeared to be more mature and individually superior. As the playing time progressed, Dresden struggled to keep up duels against the nimble Franconians, which led to occasional discontent in the stands at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium.

Kother scores the equalizer

Nuremberg were the more dangerous team and almost increased the result with the goal of the month. After a cross from Julian Justvan, Mohamed Alì Zoma (31′) rose up from the penalty spot and finished with a spectacular overhead kick. Dresden goalkeeper Lennart Grill had to use all his skills to brilliantly parry the ball.

The Dynamos remained completely harmless for a long time until they had their first chance to shoot just before the half-time whistle. The completely free-standing Kother received the ball from Christoph Daferner on the edge of the Nuremberg penalty area. After a quick turn, Kother converted from 15 meters into the bottom corner to make it 1-1, which was somewhat surprising.

More dangerous Nurembergs

The second half quickly turned in Nuremberg’s favor. Six minutes after the restart, after a nice pass from the center from Justvan to the half-right, Janisch took advantage of the shooting opportunity with a precise finish to make it 2-1 for FCN.

And just two minutes later, Lubach had a chance to score Nuremberg’s third goal after a counterattack, but it was denied by goalkeeper Grill. Whenever the Klose team increased the tempo, the hosts had problems. However, the FCN failed to secure the preliminary decision early on.

Froling with that Chance of equalization

The Dresden team didn’t give up, but despite all their effort, they lacked the necessary quality in the end. Nils Fröling (70th), for example, should have brought the ball to the Nuremberg goal from four meters away, but his shot flew high over the goal.

The Nuremberg team concentrated almost exclusively on preserving their lead over time – and did not have to survive any further explosive situations against committed but unimaginative Dresden players.
