After MORE, Pulp are apparently thinking about new music. Jarvis Cocker reveals the band could write new songs in 2026.
Pulp is always good for surprises – and apparently hasn’t put the pen down quite yet. Jarvis Cocker recently revealed that the band might write a few more songs.

Their latest album MORE, which they released in the summer, came as a surprise. It was the band’s first record in 24 years and also the first since the death of bassist Steve Mackey in 2023. A surprise appearance at this year’s Glastonbury Festival also caused a stir, where frontman Cocker received a Mercury Prize nomination.
Drummer Banks: Retirement is postponed
In an interview with Uncut, the band said they could see themselves writing new songs once they return from their 2026 tour dates. When asked about his plans for the coming year, drummer Nick Banks remained tight-lipped: “We’re playing a few shows in 2026, so the first half of next year is already planned, but that’s about it. Looking too far ahead is probably not good for mental health. I was looking forward to retirement, but it looks like I’ll have to put that off for a bit.”
Cocker agreed, but subtly hinted that new music wasn’t out of the question. “We have a few months off at the start of the year and then I’ll think about it,” he said. “From what I can tell, everyone liked it, so maybe we’ll write a few more songs, who knows?”

The singer also spoke about overcoming mental barriers when the band returned to the studio. Previous albums took “forever” to complete because he kept changing his mind, he told Uncut. “[Die Band] didn’t want to go through that again at this stage of her life. I understand that. So when I thought about making another album, I had to think about why I wanted to do it. The answer I found was that music is my greatest joy in life.”
MORE was released in June 2025 and, according to the company, was recorded in just three weeks. The subsequent surprise show at Glastonbury took place exactly 30 years after Pulp’s first appearance there.
