The German Football Association has lined up for the next four years. At the top management everything remains the same.
Bernd Neuendorf remains President of the German Football Association (DFB). The 64-year-old, who has led the association since March 2022, was unanimously confirmed in his office until 2029 by the delegates at the Bundestag on Friday. The Düren native, former journalist and state secretary in North Rhine-Westphalia, had no opponent.
Neuendorf has brought the once crisis-plagued DFB into calmer waters in recent years and consolidated them financially. Before he came to the top, the association was rocked by numerous scandals. Neuendorf’s three predecessors (Wolfgang Niersbach, Reinhard Grindel, Fritz Keller) all had to resign.
Looking to the future, Neuendorf wants to promote the professionalization of the women’s Bundesliga, the promotion of young talent and the strengthening of the amateur sector. In addition, the infrastructure should be improved in collaboration with politicians. The women’s and men’s national teams are expected to be among the world’s best. Neuendorf is also considering a bid to host the men’s World Cup in 2038 or 2042 during his next term in office.
