Talks about a contract extension with Dayot Upamecano are stalling. Now a top club apparently wants to try for the Munich central defender.

FC Bayern is doing everything it can to extend Dayot Upamecano’s contract, which runs until the summer. As several media outlets consistently report, intensive negotiations with the players have been going on for months and Upamecano is the top priority for the German record champions. However, an agreement is still pending. According to the pay-TV broadcaster Sky, the aim is to extend the agreement until at least 2030.

Real Madrid has apparently also become aware of this situation. The Spanish club is apparently examining the possibility of signing the international player on a free transfer next summer. The French portal “Foot Mercato” even reported an oral agreement between Upamecano and the “Royals”. However, the “Bild” newspaper denies the rumor.

There is a gross salary of up to 20 million euros per year, which would make Upamecano one of the top earners in the Munich squad. He is currently expected to earn around 15 million euros.

Upamecano moved from RB Leipzig to Munich in 2021 for 42.5 million euros. Since then, the 27-year-old has celebrated three championships with Bayern. Most recently, he also impressed internationally with a strong performance in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain. Upamecano is a regular player under coach Vincent Kompany.
