He is a world star and one of the best footballers. According to Cristiano Ronaldo, no one is more famous than the striker himself.

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the world’s most famous athletes – and is very aware of it. In an interview with Pierce Morgan, the 40-year-old commented on his worldwide fame – and made a comparison that makes you sit up and take notice.

Referring to US President Donald Trump, Ronaldo said: “I think no one in the world is more famous than me.” But he is not happy about it. On the contrary: the Portuguese is rather critical of the enormous attention. “I wish I wasn’t so famous,” Ronaldo said. His goal was to be successful. “But I didn’t want to be so famous,” explained the multiple world footballer.

He would like to meet Trump for a conversation: “He is one of the most important people in the world.” Trump could make things happen and change the world, emphasized Ronaldo, linking the hope for more peace in the world.

With a view to the World Cup, winning the title with Portugal wouldn’t change anything. “If you ask me whether it is a dream to win the World Cup: No, it is not a dream. Winning the World Cup would not change my name in the history of football,” emphasized Ronaldo. But he would enjoy the moment. Portugal is not a nation that regularly wins titles.

In the interview, Ronaldo also justified his decision not to be at the funeral of his national team colleague Diogo Jota. He hasn’t been to a funeral since his father’s death. If he had come to Jota’s funeral, he would have drawn all the attention to himself, which he didn’t want. “Wherever I go there is a circus,” Ronaldo said.
