Rob Geus returns to the air with a new program in which he checks hygiene in all kinds of establishments, but has gone over the line. “We are taking legal action.”
Incomprehensible: John van den Heuvel’s TV production company still gets a chance from John de Mol after Gordon’s real-life soap. Now the crime journalist can supervise Rob Geus’ TV comeback. Years and years after The Taste Police, he is now once again putting on the judge’s coat to check hygiene here and there for SBS 6.
Rancid Rob
However, there is quite an odor to Rob’s working method, which turns out to be rather rancid. How do we know that? Johan Derksen was in the Sauna Drôme in Putten this week, where John and Kees de Bever are recording a new podcast. There the VI mustache spoke with the owner and he extensively expressed his frustration with womanizer Rob.
Johan gave in Today Inside: “Rob Geus booked that sauna under a different name. He filmed there with a hidden camera under his bathrobe. However, you have to give the guests in a sauna certainty that no filming is taking place, because they walk there in their bare butts. Rob Geus did that.”
‘I won’t!’
During his secret visit, Rob allegedly found bacteria in a foot bath and mold on a bench. Word got around quickly and that’s why the sauna director decided to call him.
“Rob Geus was of course surprised that that man called him. He then said: ‘We can make a nice end of it. Then you should use my brand cleaning products’. The owner said: ‘I won’t do that’. He wanted to see those images. This is very annoying for his customers. It is simply not decent of Rob Geus.”
Legal action
Sauna Drôme confirms in a mailing that legal action will be taken. “In recent days, there has been media attention for Sauna Drôme. The reason for this is that television personality Rob Geus has been undercover in our sauna several times without our permission to take samples for a new program.”
“We were unpleasantly surprised by this. Sauna Drôme stands for relaxation, respect and trust. You should always feel safe with us, precisely because you can enjoy peace and well-being with us in all openness and without clothing. We have learned that no guest has been photographed and have now taken legal action.”
Water measurements
Why legal action? “To protect the privacy of you and our employees,” the sauna said. “What we do like to show is how seriously we take hygiene: daily water measurements, professional cleaning with certified products, independent checks and a team that knows every tile like its own towel.”
“We don’t need a hidden camera for that. We continue to work every day to offer you a pleasant, safe and carefree experience, as you have come to expect from us.”
Pretty weird
TV authority Tina Nijkamp thinks Rob goes too far. “It is of course quite strange if you say: ‘Yes, I want everything to end well, if you then show me my products.’”
SBS 6 and John van den Heuvel have not yet responded to the issue.
