Dr. You come from a solid background in general surgery. What motivated your transition to aesthetic medicine and how do both disciplines integrate into your current practice?
My training has not only been in general surgery, but I subspecialized in head and neck, so when I saw that I could complement it with aesthetic medicine, I discovered a perfect integration between the notion of anatomy and the love for aesthetics.
¿What is the profile of the patient seeking aesthetic treatments today?
Nowadays, patients who choose to undergo treatment seek increasingly natural results. That is also my premise: get them to tell you “How good you are!” without identifying exactly the reason.
¿Is there an ideal age to start addressing aesthetics from a preventive perspective? What are the benefits of early but subtle intervention?
I consider that the starting age to start skin care and facial cleansing is around 18 years old, although they can start a little earlier. In any case, incorporating care habits from early stages, even with a basic routine, allows you to prevent and reduce photoaging by up to 90%.
¿What differentiates a quality aesthetic treatment in terms of planning, execution and follow-up? What role does personalization play in this?
Each person is different, both in their anatomy and in their requirements. That is why the first consultation is so important: not only to get to know each other and establish a doctor-patient relationship from the first day, but also to plan a therapeutic strategy tailored to each case, both in facial harmony and in cost-benefit for each one.
You talk about “facial harmonization” as the axis of your proposal. Could you explain this concept and how it adapts to each person’s unique characteristics?
Facial harmonization, as its name suggests, is generating harmony between the aesthetic and therapeutic aspects of each face. It is improving each faction to the right extent according to each patient and that is what makes it unique.
