The national team defender was the protagonist of an episode which the London police are investigating. The accused person (free on bail) has already been traced: it would be a former player who later became an agent. Tottenham: “At the player’s side”

Destiny Udogie is the Premier League player threatened with a gun in a street in the north suburbs of London by a prosecutor on 6 September. The news of the accident spread on Sunday evening, but the name of the Tottenham and national team defender was leaked in the last few hours, while the Italian was busy in the Champions League match Spurs won against Copenhagen in which he started. The incident, traumatic even if it ended without bloodshed, would have left a mark on the 22-year-old Italian defender.

the accident

According to a statement from the London Police, “officers were called at 11.14pm on Saturday, 6 September, to a report that a man aged in his 20s had been threatened with a firearm in a street. The Police spoke to the victim and during the course of the investigation it emerged that the same individual had blackmailed and threatened another man, also aged in his 20s. On Monday 8 September, the police arrested a 31-year-old man accused of illegal possession of a firearm, blackmail and driving without a license. The man is free on bail while the investigation continues.” The British press by law cannot name the agent, but it would be a former player who, after a career cut short by heart problems, had decided to become an agent, working with several emerging Premier League athletes based in London, not far from the Tottenham stadium. According to what was reported by the Sun, which reconstructed the story, the threats to Udogie followed the Italian’s decision to break off relations with the agent. “We have been helping Destiny and her family since the accident and will continue to do so – Tottenham said in a statement -. Given that the investigation is still ongoing, we cannot comment further.”
