With an outfit mix of strong colors and shimmering tones, the German Olympic participants should also set fashionable accents at the Winter Games in Italy.
The design of the new Team D collection combines national identity with modern design, according to a statement from the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).
“I’m very impressed. We have simple, but still cool colors. You can see that it’s ‘Germany’ and you’re proud that you can wear it and present it,” said four-time Olympic bobsleigh champion Francesco Friedrich (35).
Around three months before the start of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina 2026, the DOSB and the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) presented the new equipment together with supplier Adidas. The approximately 70-piece collection was developed in close collaboration with the athletes, it was said.
Between bright red and different shades of gray
There are two color palettes for Olympic clothing. While the competition clothing relies on strong accents in black, bright red, sparkling nuances and white, the presentation and leisure clothing is dominated by shimmering tones such as ruby red, cream and different shades of gray. The letters of the jersey font use curved lines to reflect the movement of a flame – “a symbol of the inner fire and passion of the athletes”.
“The new collection for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is once again very successful and is more than just sportswear. It connects the entire Team Germany,” said DOSB President Thomas Weikert.
German Olympic clothing has often been in focus
In the past there had been repeated criticism of the clothing of the German Olympic team, most recently at the Summer Games in Tokyo 2021. “Who is responsible for this outfit?” Basketball national player Maodo Lo asked his question directly to manufacturer Adidas and Team Germany on Instagram. The mint green outfit with an unusual vest and neon-colored shoes quickly caused discussions online.
