Aran Bade has been very lucky in recent weeks: he was able to comment on both the Gouden Televizier-Ring Gala and the Marco Borsato trial for RTL Boulevard, because colleague Rob Goossens was not present. And that is strange: why, as a media expert, do you not want to be involved in such major news events?
‘It’s crazy’
TV critic Victor Vlam receives a question about it from a listener of his podcast Victor Indicates TV. One Jacco: “Why hasn’t Rob Goossens been at RTL Boulevard lately? He wasn’t seen around the Marco Borsato trial or around the Televizier-Ring. This is strange, because these are important moments for a media expert.”
Victor agrees: “It is indeed crazy and so crazy that I thought: I’m going to ask him. The answer turns out to be that he was on holiday with his family in Thailand for the past two and a half weeks.”
Reality show?
Rob has just returned from Asia. “So that is the reason why he was not seen during those various important moments in the media world. Yes, with TV people who are abroad for a while, the question is always: are they perhaps participating in some reality program?”
Victor continues: “He explicitly says that it is with the family, so that indicates that it is a holiday, because if someone has seen his girlfriend at the Appie while she is paying for the groceries, then the lie will of course come out a little faster. I think it is correct.”
Other choice
If Victor had been the media manager for RTL Boulevard, he would have skipped that family holiday. “In all honesty: I would plan my holiday at a different time than Marco Borsato’s trial.”
“In fact, I think I would cancel it if the Borsato process interfered with my holiday, but he has made a different choice.”
