BEIJING (dpa-AFX) – In the dispute over the Dutch chip manufacturer Nexperia, China has once again sharply criticized the government in The Hague. The Ministry of Commerce in Beijing called on the Netherlands to “stop its interference in the company’s internal affairs” and find a constructive solution to the dispute. Despite repeated and “reasonable demands,” The Hague has not yet shown a constructive stance.
The background to the conflict is the Dutch government’s decision on September 30 to place Nexperia under state control because of concerns about its Chinese parent company Wingtech. Shortly afterwards, Beijing imposed export restrictions on certain Nexperia chips, which also affect European car manufacturers.
Nexperia primarily produces standard chips that are used in large quantities in the automotive industry and in electronic devices. According to industry associations, there is a risk of production bottlenecks in Germany if the blockade continues. On Friday, Beijing announced that it would again allow exceptions for Nexperia exports under certain conditions./jpt/DP/zb
