Trends regularly enter the fashion world.

However, outfits, hairstyles and make-up styles that are popular one day can seem at least funny, if not even embarrassing, a few years later.

We remembered the fashion fads of the 21st century and picked pictorial examples of them.

If you remember these or are even familiar with them. you are at least a millennial.

1+2: Super narrow eyebrows and Kouvola hair

At the beginning of the 2000s, the trendiest eyebrows were plucked super narrow. Many have regretted this trend later, because not everyone has succeeded in growing them into a more natural shape.

Christina Aguilera presents another trend of the time in the picture above. Her hair has the trendy “skunk dye” at the time, where the hair was dyed with two very contrasting shades.

In Finland, the term Kouvola-tukka is also used for the style.

3. “Seagull shit” in the eyes

Nollari’s music stars often wore eye make-up where the inner corners of the eyes were emphasized with the lightest possible eye shadow or eyeliner.

In the photos above, the then-trendy make-up style of Gimmel’s Ushma Karnani (now Olava) and Susanna Korvolan and in the eyes of Christina Aguilera.

The style was also imitated by ourselves, but in the hands of the unskilled, the result did not turn out quite as desired. Maybe that’s why the popular eye makeup style of the past years was also nicknamed “seagull shit”.

4. Hip jeans

In the early years of the 2000s, young women preferred very low-waisted jeans. Thong-style panties were worn under them, and the thing was that the strings of the pants flashed above the waist of the jeans. The most trend-conscious also had a lower back tattoo called a tramp stamp.

The fashion of the early 2000s, or Y2K, is once again popular with young people. That’s why hip jeans have started to make a comeback.

5. Crocs as all-around footwear

The first decade of the 2000s saw a wild trend when Crocs launched their plastic clogs. At one point, they were seen on the feet of one or another, even though critical gravel voices considered Crocs mostly suitable for garden work or the summer house.

Crocs are still sold, but the popularity is no longer at the levels of the wildest boom. Of course, they still dream of being a hit, but in a more stylish way: for example, this spring Crocs launched a joint collection with Marimekko.

6. “Karen hair”

The polka dot hair, which is puffed up at the back, is familiar to many of today’s followers from the Karen memes. They depict a middle-aged woman who behaves arrogantly and demands to speak to the manager.

In Finland, this trendy hairstyle of the past years is also known by the descriptive name “chicken ass”.

7. Breast belt

A nipple belt is a piece of clothing that at one point could not be avoided in the nightlife.

It was a flexible and wide belt that was worn over a party dress, tunic or long top to give shape to the body. The name comes from the fact that the belt was fastened under the breasts.

8. Sperm eyebrows

When the first decade of the 21st century began to draw to a close, the eyebrows were already allowed to be thicker. Or plucked in a sperm-like pattern, as in the picture above.

9. Liver sausage lips

One of the make-up trends of the past years was to use nude lipstick as light as possible. At worst, the mark resembled that the lips had been hidden with make-up cream. Look has also been called liver sausage lips.

10. Floorball beads

In many ways, wooden beads are associated with floorball players. Mostphotos

Wooden beads on the wrist or around the neck were worn by young, trend-conscious men.

The reason was that they were seen on successful indoor basketball players. The players of the sport were considered to be real style freaks.

Published on the Pääkallo website Floorball dictionary according to the trend has since faded, and today’s players no longer use this decoration.

11. The One Piece boom

At the beginning of the 2010s, we saw a huge boom in one outfit. The soft and one-piece jumpsuit, One Piece, became popular then.

The Norwegian manufacturer’s overalls were seen both in reality television productions and on world stars. For example, the company designed a joint collection with the One Direction boy band.

12. Court beanie

Kortsupi beanie is a beanie that is worn in such a way that there is a bag on top of the head reminiscent of the design of a condom.

Especially the Svea brand beanies worn in this way were at one point a real craze. Iltalehti also reported on the beanie boom in 2010.
