Table tennis legend Timo Boll returns to the halls of the Bundesliga in a new role. In the future, the 44-year-old will accompany selected table tennis Bundesliga (TTBL) games as an expert for rights holder “Dyn”.
Boll will appear for the first time on November 16th in the game between his heart club Borussia Düsseldorf and Borussia Dortmund.
“I’m looking forward to accompanying the game from a new perspective in the future,” Boll was quoted as saying in a statement. Boll works as a brand ambassador for BVB, his favorite football club, with a focus on Asia. He also works as an ambassador for his former club Düsseldorf and the German Table Tennis Association (DTTB).
For streaming provider Dyn, Boll will initially accompany three top games: In addition to the Borussia duel, the broadcaster named the Düsseldorf games against Post SV Mühlhausen (December 16th) and at 1. FC Saarbrücken-TT (December 21st) involving the Chinese superstar Fan Zhendong.
Following the TTBL final in June, the most successful German table tennis player in history ended his career as a professional athlete after almost three decades.
