After seven years in the second division, the wait was over at the start of the new season. Hamburger SV is back in the Bundesliga – and is doing well in its comeback season so far. There are eight points after eight games so far.

Former trainer Bruno Labbadia therefore has words of praise for his former employer. “They had a hard time at the beginning, but recently they’ve looked a little better in terms of performance,” the 59-year-old is quoted by “Tag24”.

Labbadia is particularly impressed by the work of trainer Merlin Polzin. “You can tell they’re a good team. They’re doing a very good job. They’ve accepted the league and changed their style of play,” said the former coach. “That wasn’t unclever.”

From November 4th to 27th, the special exhibition “Put in the right light – the influence of the right on the HSV fan scene of the 1980s” can be seen in the Central Library at Hühnerposten. It sheds light on how right-wing tendencies shaped parts of the Hamburg fan scene during this time and what traces this past still leaves behind today. The exhibition could already be seen in the HSV Museum in 2022. You can find out more about this here.

On November 17th – the 40th anniversary of Ramazan Avcı’s death – a conversation with his son Ramazan Avcı and the activist Ünal Zeran will take place as part of the exhibition. Together they talk about remembrance, education and the fight against right-wing violence. Entry is free.

This mission didn’t go as he had imagined for former HSV striker Omar Sillah: the 22-year-old was strangely sent off in the cup duel against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.

First, Joker Sillah, who came on as a substitute in the 90th minute, ran onto the pitch too early and was shown a yellow card. Just four minutes later there was a yellow-red for a foul. Fürth ultimately lost the game 0-1 and was eliminated from the DFB Cup.
