Felix Hoffmann was crowned German singles champion on Thursday evening. For another young ski jumper, the competition went less well.
On Thursday, the best ski jumpers competed in an individual duel at the German Championships in Oberhof. Selina Freitag and, surprisingly, Felix Hoffmann were happy about the victory.
But there was also a moment of shock. The 19-year-old young jumper Yann Kullmann fell after landing and had to be treated for minutes. A diagnosis for the German ski jumper is not yet known.
For Hoffmann it was the first title and the first podium in the individual at the German Championships. He landed after 96.5 and 102.5 meters (289.3 points). Afterwards, the winner said to the portal “skisprung.com”: “My jumps themselves were good, but I had a problem with the symmetry in the air. Of course, I’m very pleased that it still worked out so well.”
Philipp Raimund was runner-up (287.8 points), Pius Paschke came third and Olympic champion Andreas Wellinger came fourth. Karl Geiger came fifth. Under an Instagram post from the German Ski Association, a viewer of the competition commented: “Get well soon, Yann Kullmann.”
In the women’s competition, Freitag won on the normal hill in Kanzlersgrund with 96.5 meters and 93.5 meters (312.7 points), well ahead of Agnes Reisch (296.3 points) and Katharina Schmid (283.5 points). The first World Cup competition will take place from November 21st to 23rd in Lillehammer, Norway.
