Bpost proposed to provide four temporary additional workers until the end of the year, after which an evaluation will follow and a possible decision to make this reinforcement structural. However, the unions wanted permanent hires immediately. The new operation has only been in effect for three weeks, which is not a representative period for bpost.

The unions are now satisfied with the agreement. “We are happy that everyone can return to work and that a solution has been found. We have also received a guarantee that our employees will receive help to clear the backlog of the past few days,” says Delphine Bethuyne of ACV. “In addition, four additional workers will start working in January to determine whether structural adjustments are necessary.”
