The Spanish professional cyclist Oier Lazkano from the German team Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe has been temporarily suspended “due to unexplained irregularities in his biological passport”.
The world association UCI announced this on Thursday. Anomalies were discovered in 2022, 2023 and 2024, during which time Lazkano was still driving for the Movistar team.
Lazkano has not taken part in a race since April, and Red Bull-Bora-hansgrohe had not given any reasons for the 25-year-old’s long break from competition. The Spaniard himself deleted his social media accounts. His last start so far was at the classic Paris-Roubaix, where he finished 117th.
