A 67-year-old man from Aalden has been sentenced to a suspended prison sentence of four months and a fine of 10,000 euros for possessing more than 21,000 illegal erection-stimulating pills. The pills were discovered at his company in June 2021 after a tip.
The man has been fined twice before for having such pills. In 2013 and 2018, the man was before the administrative judge for this. Possessing, let alone trading, such pills is punishable. The criminal judge finds it amiss that the man has not learned from the previously imposed fines.
The man in his sixties continued with this trade and had no regard for the harmful consequences that the pills could have. Due to the illegality, no control is possible and users can be exposed to negative consequences for their health, the judge in Groningen ruled.
An unconditional prison sentence would have been appropriate here. But the judge must also take the passage of time into account. The sentence is equal to the demand of the Public Prosecution Service.
