The results of crucial postal votes are still days away
The election results of Dutch people who cast their votes from abroad are not expected until Monday evening at the earliest. A spokeswoman for the municipality of The Hague said this. The votes can be decisive for which party will be the largest: D66 or PVV. The Hague is responsible for processing these votes.
Counting has started, but cannot be completed until Monday, because votes forwarded by embassies and consulates can be received until that day. Those who sent the ballot paper to The Hague themselves had to ensure that it was received by 3 p.m. on election day.
Officially, the results of the postal votes will be determined on Tuesday, but The Hague may be able to report figures the evening before. The municipality expects that this will amount to approximately 90,000 votes. The difference between the parties of Rob Jetten and Geert Wilders is only a few thousand votes on the day after the elections.
