Sydney Sweeney takes comments about her appearance with humor. She says she wants to empower women with her self-confidence. And what was that with James Bond?
Sydney Sweeney has faced a lot of comments about her appearance – often accompanied by rumors about alleged plastic surgery. From breast jobs to facelifts to Botox, there has been a lot of speculation about possible procedures. Now the actress clarifies: “I’ve never had anything done. I’m absolutely afraid of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’ll age gracefully.”

In an interview with Variety, Sweeney responds with humor to the speculation that has accompanied her since childhood. “It’s really funny. I then see these ‘comparison pictures’ online. And I think: I’m twelve in this photo. Of course I look different. I wear make-up now and I’m 15 years older.”
“Many people think they know me – but they don’t”
In particular, her controversial advertising campaign for the US clothing brand American Eagle once again brought her “sex appeal” into focus. The discussions about her body are often absurd and sometimes hurtful, Sweeney admits in the interview. However, she doesn’t let that intimidate her. “I play a lot of very polarizing characters and I think a lot of people think they know me – but they don’t.”
“I hope I can inspire other women to be confident”
She tells Variety that her goal is to empower women rather than apologize for their femininity: “I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just show what they have and feel good about themselves, because you shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room.”
Lead role in “James Bond”?
While Sweeney finds clear words when it comes to comments about her appearance, she is much more cautious when it comes to another rumor. Speculation has been circulating for months that she could take on a central role in the next “James Bond” film. According to media reports, even Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is said to have supported them.
When asked about this, the 28-year-old answers remarkably vaguely: “I can’t… (seven second pause) I don’t know it… (ten second pause) “To be honest, I don’t know all the Bond rumors, but I’ve always been a big fan of the franchise and I’m excited and curious to see what they’re going to do with it,” Variety quoted the actress as saying. When asked if she would be interested if an offer came, Sydney Sweeney replied: “It depends on the script. I think I would have more fun than James Bond.”
