The Twilight Sad make their comeback with their single “Waiting For The Phone Call”. Featuring: Robert Smith from The Cure. At the same time, the duo have announced a headlining tour of the UK and Europe in 2026.

A piece about loss & love

The Scottish noise rockers now only consist of frontman James Graham and guitarist Andy MacFarlane, but they don’t let that limit them. Together with Robert Smith they release “Waiting For The Phone Call” – a personal song about grief, love and mental illness. Graham explained in a press release that these things had defined his life: “I lost the person who was most important to me in the most cruel way. I have always used writing as a way to process and deal with my emotions.”

Robert Smith, the buddy

It’s no coincidence that Smith can be heard as a feature on the new song. The Twilight Sad have been in The Cure orbit for a long time. They have supported the band on several world tours, and Smith covered the track “There’s A Girl In The Corner” before The Twilight Sad later returned the favor with a cover of “M.” Regarding the now friendly relationship, Graham explained: “If you had told us five years ago that we would be friends with Robert, just talk to him, insult him and do nonsense with him – no one would have believed it.” He added via press release: “Robert is just a nice guy who wants people to do their best.”

These are The Twilight Sad

Since their formation in 2003, The Twilight Sad have carved out their own niche in the world of indie rock and post-punk. Known for their dense, atmospheric soundscapes, the band combines swirling guitars, driving rhythms and emotionally raw vocals to create music that can be described as both cinematic and introspective.

The Twilight Sad first gained attention in 2007 with their debut album “Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters”. With the following albums, including “Forget the Night Ahead” (2009), “No One Can Ever Know” (2012) and “It Won’t Be Like This All the Time” (2019), they established themselves in the rock scene.
