After missing the playoffs, the New York chapter ends for coach Sandro Schwarz. Another person in charge from Germany is also leaving the team.

The New York Red Bulls are drawing conclusions after a disappointing season in Major League Soccer: As the club announced, Sandro Schwarz will not continue as coach. Sports director Jochen Schneider is also leaving the Red Bulls. According to the club, the 55-year-old has decided to return to his family in Europe. The club did not give any further reasons.

Schwarz’ contract would have expired, but there was no further information about his separation. The 47-year-old, who once coached Mainz 05 and Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga, became a coach in New York almost two years ago. The Red Bulls missed out on taking part in the playoffs this season – partly because of numerous injury problems. The team had performed significantly more successfully the season before.

Julian de Guzmán will succeed Schneider. The 44-year-old was a former professional at Hannover 96 and most recently worked with Schneider. It is still unclear who will be the new head coach.
