It was close to being impossible for Chief Inspector Davy Jans (51) to live to tell the story. During a police check on Saturday night in Borgloon, Limburg, a Renault Mégane crashed into two stationary vehicles that he was checking. The 41-year-old driver, with 2.6 per mille of alcohol in his blood, rammed the cars and catapulted the inspector several meters away. “He did not slow down, on the contrary: just before the impact he accelerated,” the victim testifies for the first time.
