Thomas Müller scored in his first MLS playoff game and led his Vancouver Whitecaps to a confident 3-0 win over FC Dallas.

Müller made it 2-0 with a penalty kick in the 60th minute, marking his ninth goal in all competitions since moving to Canada two months ago. Daniel Rios (43′) gave the hosts the lead at BC Place, while Kenji Cabrera (83′) ensured the final score.

To advance in the best-of-three mode of the first playoff round, Vancouver needs another win.

Müller – “Ready for more”

“We controlled the game from the start. That was the plan. Find the balance between attacking and being ready for counterattacks. We controlled them well and distributed the ball well.”said Müller afterwards on Apple TV. “But that was just one win, we need a second one.”

Asked what makes the Whitecaps special, he replied: “If I wasn’t a player but an expert, I would say this team has a good cohesion. But as a player, I don’t reveal any secrets. We’re ready for more. And I want to have fun with the boys.”
